Supply resilience in protective textiles: Techtextil 2026 brought together the industrial supply chain

The focus on national and allied defence, acceleration measures such as Germany’s Bundeswehr Procurement Acceleration Act (BwBBG) and EU initiatives including EDIRPA are driving rapid momentum in the defence market. Complex technical delivery specifications and procurement requirements must be translated rapidly into materials, components, finishes and processes that interact seamlessly within compliant protective systems. In this context, manufacturers of protective equipment face the challenge of balancing costs, regulatory compliance and supply security. Speed and connectivity: Techtextil and Texprocess provided market-ready solutions for industries under pressure

With more than 36,000 visitors and 1,700 exhibitors from a total of 112 countries, Techtextil and Texprocess 2026 demonstrated how innovation comes into industrial use. The convergence of research, industry and application proved to be a breeding ground for new material solutions, manufacturing and processing technologies. Natural fibres, performance apparel, connected systems and AI-driven processing technologies emerged as key growth and future markets.

Innovation as the answer: Techtextil and Texprocess honour solutions to global challenges with the 2026 Innovation Awards

The winners of the Techtextil and Texprocess Innovation Awards 2026 have been announced. Across ten categories, 17 international winners are being recognised for pioneering research, innovative products and materials, as well as new processes and technologies. These innovations provide solutions far beyond the textile industry – including sectors such as automotive, aerospace, medical, architecture, construction and robotics. The awards ceremony takes place on 21 April at Techtextil and Texprocess in Frankfurt. From 21 to 24 April, there is a winners’ exhibition as well as guided tours.
